"Wow, I was so blown away by this show Sunday night. I have seen some shows...hundreds and thousand of them in my life time.And i am left almost speechless. Billy invited the real me to see the show, so i went. I do not care for reggae all that much. so i went almost begrudgingly. i figure hell ill smoke a hookah, and ill fit right it. Stereo type is reggae=Rastafarians, no showers, dreads, etc. NOT THIS BAND. These guys flat out rocked the house. It was a perfectly Choreographed almost spiritual experience. They Had a message of love, and tolerance, and the showed it with style. With a mix of reggae, hip hop,and beat box, they kept it goin in ways i have not seen in years.At one point COOT the lead male vocal/keys player started a freestyle rap, using four random words the crowd shouted... and he used them twice, and still managed to wrap into his freestyle the coast and mosaic. Then comes a beat box session, where coot challenged the drummer to a battle. and kept up for a while, until the drummer just went insane on the drums with some of the fastest drumming i have ever seen. ok so enogh about that side. The real stars in my opinion were the sax player with his smooth, rhythmic sax, and The little firecracker known as Katherine Ramirez. When she got to the stage, and opened her mouth the doors about blew off the place. Sweet, sultry,and powerful were the words flowing from her lips. REALLY BLOWN AWAY IF YOU CANT TELL. The only one bad thing i have to say about the show, was that they are not from here...so we have to wait a long while to see em again. If you missed it, i will tell you this...The last show i saw that was as choreographed and perfect was back in the 80s, when i went to the Michael Jackson BAD concert. yep i said it. I meant it. To all the bands around here, no worries i have moved the bar up a few notches, but i would never compare you to them. They are on the road, and rehearse that same show every night for over a year...so they are very very in tune with each other, and yet they are still as passionate about music as some of the local musicians.
by all means 5 STARS That was not a gig, or a show, that was an experience!!!"

"Mystic Roots Band kicked off Saturday's show with a very well-rehearsed stellar set with a group that includes the sole female lead singer of the entire weekend was the powerful Katherine Ramirez, who shares vocal duties with Coot, a hard-working soldier and phenomenal beatboxer, whose band tours coast to coast with roots in northernmost California in Chico. Note to Ragga Muffins: with so many talented female artists on the scene, you had not ONE of the sisters as a headliner on your 20 artist lineup this year! And it was duly noted by fans, many of whom commented on it in context of what was not viewed as a strong lineup for the weekend in general. One fan, a frequent festival goer noted, "They underestimated the tastes of the So Cal reggae crowd with this lineup today (Saturday)." Saturday's show was dismal in its attendance with only 6,000 ticket buyers present in the cavernous 18,000 capacity Long Beach Arena."
